Manual scan
- Launch the PC Matic 5 application and select the Privacy tab.
- Click the green Scan Now button to initiate a PC privacy scan.
- PC Matic Privacy offers multiple scan options. Please carefully review and choose the most suitable options based on your requirements. Don't forget to check the box next to "Save These Settings" in order to retain your scan preferences for future use.
- Click "Scan and Clean" to start the scan.
After scanning, a window will appear with scan results showing detailed information about scanned files and detected threats.
After the scan completes, you'll be able to see when the last scan was and that the device is protected on the dashboard.
What is PC Privacy scanning?
PC Privacy performs scanning and removal of cookies, cache, browser history, recycle bin, and auto-saved information. Clearing browser cache and cookies is crucial for enhancing performance, ensuring privacy, and resolving issues. Caches and cookies have the potential to impede browser speed, disrupt website loading, and compromise privacy by retaining personal data and tracking online activity. Web browsers optimize for slow internet connections by downloading and storing commonly used elements, such as logos, to reduce load times. Occasionally, the browser may encounter display issues due to an inaccurate cache. Clearing the cache eliminates confusion and prompts the browser to download fresh copies of all elements on each page. This process effectively resolves any cache-related issues.
Cookies Can Track You
Internet cookies can track your browsing habits without your knowledge. PC Matic Privacy scans for cookies inserted by websites you have visited recently and removes them.
Images Are Still There
All images your web browser has ever downloaded and displayed are saved in your browser cache. PC Matic Privacy scans all major browsers for cached images and deletes them for you.
"Delete" Doesn't Mean Delete
Just putting a file in the recycle bin doesn't actually delete it from your PC. You must also empty your recycle bin. PC Matic Privacy empties your recycle bin if you forgot to empty it manually.
Embarrassing Browser History
Browsers keep a detailed list of how many times and when you have visited each website. Your PC may have records dating back to your PC purchase. PC Matic Privacy deletes browsing history in Firefox, Edge and Chrome.
Sensitive Information
Every image, movie, audio, Microsoft Office and PDF document opened recently are chronicled in Windows for future access. PC Matic Privacy resets the list so your document history remains private and secure from unauthorized use.
Favicon History
Every website you visit has a favicon and your browser saves a details list of each favicon and the URL it came from. PC Matic Privacy not only cleans your history but also cleans the trail of favicons.
Privacy Browser
Click Secure Browser, and it will open a private browser, enabling you to browse the internet privately.
A secure browser allows you to browse the web without saving your browsing history, cookies, or other temporary data on your device. This means your browsing activity won't be recorded and will be cleared when you close the private window.
