How do I add a device?

Windows

Follow the instructions below to add a Windows device to a PC Matic account.

Supported Windows Versions: 7, 8, 10, 11

  1. Download the PC Matic installer file. You may see it in the lower left corner of your browser (Chrome), or you can find it in your Downloads folder.

  2. Double click on the installation file, or click it once and press enter.
  3. If prompted with User Account Control, click Yes.

  4. Select your language and press OK
  5. Read and accept the License Agreement and click Next.
  6. Click Next to confirm the install location.
  7. Click Next to confirm the start menu location.
  8. Select if you want to create a desktop shortcut and click Next.
  9. Select Install.
  10. Once complete, select to Launch PC Matic and click Finish.

  11. When PC Matic launches, enter your login information from your purchase.

  12. You’ve completed installing PC Matic!

Now, run a scan and clean to complete the setup of your new computer!


macOS

Follow the instructions below to add a Mac device to a PC Matic account.

Supported macOS Versions: Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, & Ventura.

macOS Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, & Ventura

  1. Download the PC Matic installer file.
  2. To complete the installation process, you will need to know the administrator password for the computer. This is most likely the password you use to log in to your Mac on a daily basis.
  3. Navigate to where you downloaded and saved the .dmg installer file and double-click it to begin the install process.
  4. Once you double-click the InstallPCMatic.dmg  file it will open a new window called PCMatic with two files inside:
  5. PC Matic.pkg  This is our main installer file and what we’ll use to put PC Matic in place.
  6. Uninstall PC Matic.tool  This uninstall file is not used for Catalina, Big Sur & Monterey. To remove PC Matic click the shield, hover over Troubleshooting/Help, and select uninstall.
  7. Open the PC Matic.pkg  file and click Continue to start the installation.
  8. Type in your administrator password and click Install Software. Once completed, click Close.
  9. You should now see our PC Matic Mac icon appear in the Status Bar at the top of your desktop. It will begin as a red shield.
  10. Click the red shield, and select Register this computer to connect this Mac with your PC Matic account.
  11. Sign in with your PC Matic account information.
  12. Once signed in, your Mac will prompt you to allow our system extension and full disk access. This is critical for antivirus products and must be allowed for PC Matic to protect your device. Click Open Security Preferences in the prompt.
  13. In the Security and Privacy window at the bottom, you will see System Software from Application “PC Matic Tray” was blocked from loadingUnlock the window by clicking the lock in the lower left corner and entering your administrator password. Then click the Allow button.
  14. After you click allow, the option will disappear.
  15. Next, click Privacy at the top of the window. It is the last tab on the right. Scroll down on the left side and select Full Disk Access.
  16. Place a checkmark in the boxes next to “PC Matic” and “PC Matic System Extension”. Lock and close the Security & Privacy window.
  17. Your shield will turn green and installation is now complete!

Now, run a scan and clean to complete the setup of your new computer!

macOS Mojava, High Sierra & Sierra

  1. Download the PC Matic installer file.
  2. To complete the installation process, you will need to know the administrator password for the computer. This is most likely the password you use to log in to your Mac on a daily basis.

  10. During installation, your Mac will prompt you to allow our system extension. This is critical for antivirus products and must be allowed for PC Matic to protect your device. Click Open Security Preferences in the prompt.
  11. In the Security and Privacy window at the bottom of the General tab you will see System Software from developer ‘PC Pitstop LLC’ was blocked from loading”Unlock the window by clicking the lock in the lower left corner and entering your administrator password. Then click the Allow button.
  12. After you click allow, the option will disappear.
  13. Close System Preferences.
  14. Once the install completes, click Close.
  15. You should now see our PC Matic Mac icon in the Status Bar at the top of your desktop. It will begin as a red shield.
  16. Click the red shield, and select Register this computer to connect this Mac with your PC Matic account.
  17. Sign in with your PC Matic account information.
  18. Your shield will turn green and installation is now complete!

Now, run a scan and clean to complete the setup of your new computer!


Android

Follow the instructions below to add an Android device to a PC Matic account.

Supported Android Versions: 4.4 and up – Requires at least 1 GB of free space

  1. Begin by installing the PC Matic app from the Google Play app store.
  2. On the page for our application, tap Install.

  3. Click the Open button after installation completes.

  4. Log in with your PC Matic account email address and password.

You’ve completed installing PC Matic for Android! Now you can run your first scan on your Android phone.


iOS and iPadOS

Follow the instructions below to add an iOS device to your PC Matic account.

PC Matic supports iOS version 13.0 or later.

  1. Begin by installing the PC Matic app from the Apple app store.
  2. When you open the PC Matic app for the first time, you’ll be guided through a brief onboarding process. You can view onboarding instructions again anytime through the app Settings screen or by reading this guide.
  3. In order to use the content blocker, you will have to manually enable it in your device’s settings. Navigate to Settings.
  4. Locate and tap on Safari.


  5. Tap Extensions and toggle the PC Matic content blocker on.

  6. Now return to the PC Matic app and log in to your PC Matic account to unlock full access. If you don’t see the login page, just press the menu button in the top left corner and select Login.

  7. You’re done! Now swipe left and enable the filters you wish to use. You can read a little more about each filter below.

Ads Filter– Helps block several forms of advertisements found while browsing the web.

Social Filter – Helps block social media content, widgets, buttons, etc.

Privacy Filter – Helps block web analytics tools and tracking scripts.

Security Filter – Includes URLs that have been identified as likely to contain malware.

Enjoy browsing your PC Matic account on your iOS device and secure advertisement-free browsing inside Safari!


Chromebook

Chromebooks are a very secure Operating System and don’t require antivirus. However, you can install the PC Matic Ad Blocker to ensure all of your web browsing on your Chromebook is secure and fast.

  1. From your Chromebook, click the button above to install the PC Matic Ad Blocker from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click the blue Add to Chrome button.

  3. Click Add extension in the popup window.

Finished! The PC Matic Ad Blocker is now installed on your Chromebook and will block ads, trackers, and scams online. If you want to learn how to allow a specific URL past the Ad Blocker, check out this help article.
